If you baby is newborn it is best not to bath them for at least five days after birth, you can top and tail them every day. (see babyconfused.com Bathing You Baby for further information)
When they are about three weeks old you can bath your baby every night if you choose to do so however recently health professionals have suggested it is not necessary to bath a young baby every day and every three days would be adequate unless they had a very large bowel motion and it was difficult to wash them clean, it is sometimes easier to pop them in the bath.
Bathing a baby is also a cultural event for some people and bathing is part of the daily routine of care and attention.
