When Can I Take My Baby To The Beach?

Question, when can i take my baby to the beach? Please read the useful answers to this question below.
It is the advice of most baby specialists that it is unwise to take your baby to the beach until they are six months old and can have some exposure to sunlight with the protection of a recommended sunscreen, however it would be fine to take your baby at 3-4 months for a walk on a beach in the very early morning or late afternoon when the sun is not too hot. Your baby would need a sunhat with a brim and be covered in cool clothes with arms and legs also covered. Babies do not usually enjoy being at the beach until they can sit up and then it is important to follow all the rules of sun safety.

I took my baby to the beach when he was 3.5 months old and he loved it. He loved looking at the water and playing in the sand.

Even though it was not very sunny, it was recommended I still use a strong sun cream as babies skins are very sensitive and also keep them in the shade.

In fact, its recommended to keep all babies under 6 months in the shade and generally keep all babies or toddles out of the sun during the hottest period in the day (11am and 3pm).

Its important to use a good sun cream, a sun hat (wide brim hat or a cap with a flap on the back to cover their neck), lightweight swimsuit that completely covers their body and even some beach shoes or jelly shoes which protect their feet from the sun.
