A baby can have bread once he has has established eating pureed foods. A little bread broken up in to tiny pieces sprinkled on his meal can give variety. The pieces need to be tiny at first and then once he can pick small pieces of food up by himself you can offer tiny sandwiches. I also gave my children crusts to hold and chew once they were 9 months but you must always watch as you do not want them to choke.
