Is it common practice to keep a 13-day-old awake for longer during the day, so she will sleep longer at night?

    No – it is not common practice the baby is too young.

    A 13 day old baby needs as much sleep as she appears to require,babies have no idea what the difference between night and day is. You are very lucky to have a baby that is sleeping well as it can become a problem later if you interfered with her natural sleeping habit many parents experience problems with their babies not having enough sleep.
    A helpful suggestion could be to feed more often during the day as it is the amount a baby consumes in 24 hours that helps them sleep well at night.Only if you are breast feeding.

    I was told this by my Doula and it worked for me.
